There was a lot of laughing and storytelling with the handful of us that were left, Wayne Roberts from Alberta had a very dry humour and was a lot of fun. Serge joked that when he came to Ireland first that it was like finding a shop with lovely things that nobody else knew about! I told him that I still have keys for that shop!
The pair of us spent a short enough time together in dog training, maybe a couple of lambing seasons along with the regular year round tasks but it was an intensive apprenticeship for me often 7 days a week with him immersed in it.
I liked this man, no drama and the stud fee was a working price. A good practical man that doesn’t spare his dogs on Monday regardless of how they do on Sunday. That’s type of workman-like practicality that sits well with me.
